Best small-press event in the Borderlands, Spring 2015!
I was here on Saturday! The first Wrexham ‘Zine Fest held by HorrorSummer. A great selection of tables with loads of different kinds of ‘zines for sale. Some cool craft-making and comic-making tables at the back of the room, and a really ear-catching spoken-word performance by Carl Dunlop [Carl on YouTube] up at the front, courtesy of Voicebox. Even a selection of ‘zines brought in by the Salford ‘Zine Library, whose home is in one of my favourite cafes in Manchester (check out the Nexus Art Cafe and Salford Zine Library next time you’re visiting Travelling Man/Forbidden Planet/Afleck’s Palace in Manchester).
Met up with some of the students doing the Graphic Novel course at Glyndwr – some really impressive work on show in their ‘zines. All in all, a fantastic day. I wish I’d got it together to have a table myself. Next time, maybe?
