The Station Master's Dream - Digital, 2010
Something of a departure for me, style-wise, with this one. Another study for The Way to come out of the Saturday crit that we had a fortnight ago. Talking with Heulwen about finding the people behind the Cambrian Railway took me to that obituary of Arthur Rupert Morgan. From there I connected up with various visual ideas that I’d been toying around with – railway personnel in and around the Oswestry station. This current study didn’t come directly from those original visuals, but emerged generally from thinking about people and trains. The circle in the background is based on another GWR signal, incidentally – this time a ringed-arm signal for a goods line or a loop.
