Went to this year’s Oswestry Festival of Food and Drink yesterday. Happily, the sun stayed out until about 3pm, giving me a chance to do some sketching on the Bailey. I was sitting there drawing all the usual things – people, buildings, dogs stealing venison sausages, musicians outside Home Bargains, etc., etc. – when suddenly this street performer on stilts dressed as Little Bo Peep came striding by. It was such a bizarre sight I couldn’t resist doing a couple of drawings (she was so tall she took up three pages). I’m used to stilt-walking clowns and so on – but a Big Bo Peep? Just goes to prove you can never be sure what’s going to come around the corner.
I’ll work it up into a print over the next few weeks and may try and find somewhere in Oswestry to exhibit it as part of “Art Works”.
